Grant Africa (grantafrica.co.za) is an independent South African information website that publishes guides about SASSA grants. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use this site. The short version is simple: we store no personal information at all. The homepage status checker passes your ID and phone number straight to SASSA's official system and keeps nothing.

What We Store: Nothing

  • This website has no accounts, no registration and no sign-up.
  • There is no form anywhere on this site that asks for your banking details, your SASSA PIN or any other sensitive information, and there never will be.
  • Our homepage SASSA Status Checker sends the ID number and phone number you type straight to SASSA's official system and shows you the result it returns. The details pass through to SASSA only. We do not store them, log them or keep any copy.
  • We do not run any system that identifies you personally.

Please be careful online: if any website, message or person asks for your SASSA PIN, your ID number or your banking details, do not share them. SASSA will never ask for your PIN.

What We Do Not Store, Sell Or Share

Because we store no personal information, there is nothing for us to sell, rent or share. We do not sell data, we do not share data, and we do not build profiles of our readers.

Cookies

This website itself stores only one small preference in your browser's local storage so the site works the way you left it: your light/dark display choice. It stays on your own device and is not a tracking cookie.

One outside service can be involved when you use this site:

  • Advertising: to cover running costs, this site may in future show advertising through Google AdSense or Mediavine Journey. Grant Africa is published in South Africa's official languages. Each language version is a separate page on this website, written and checked by our own team. Reading the site in another language loads another page of this site only, and involves no outside translation service.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser's settings. The guides on this site will still work.

POPIA And Your Rights

Grant Africa is fully aligned with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa. Because we hold no personal information (the status checker passes details to SASSA without keeping them), most POPIA requests will have nothing to act on, but your rights stand in full. You have the right to ask what personal information an organisation holds about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your information has been misused. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message, as with any email. We use it only to reply to you, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Our guides link to SASSA's official websites (sassa.gov.za and srd.sassa.gov.za) and to a small number of trusted sources. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information.
