SASSA Grant Payment Dates For 2026: Full Calendar And How Paydays Work

The complete SASSA payment calendar for 2026, with the full-year table for the main grants, the revised November 2026 dates, the fourth day for grants under review, and why the SRD R370 grant works on a personal payday instead.

Your grant doesn't pay "sometime in the month". It pays on a set day. The same day, every month, and SASSA publishes that day months ahead. Older persons first. Disability next. Children's grants after that. Whole households plan around those three mornings, and if you know your column in the table, you know your day.

So here is the whole of 2026. One table, no hunting. On this page you will also find the one month that changed (November, and it changed properly), why the SRD R370 grant never shows up in a table like this at all, and how to double-check your date before you pay for a taxi to town. Every date below comes off the official schedule published for 2026/27, with SASSA's November revision already applied.

Two things before you read it and run. January to March? That was the tail end of the 2025/26 grant year. April onwards runs on the 2026/27 schedule, the one SASSA confirmed with National Treasury approval in March 2026. And the November row, look at it twice. It is the revised one. There is a whole section on it below.

Got a linked grant? It pays with the main grant it attaches to. Grant-in-aid rides along with that grant too, same day, same payment.

Why Grants Pay In A Set Order

The order never changes. Not once. Older persons collect first because SASSA built the whole cycle around the most vulnerable group, and splitting three grant families across three days keeps the queues at ATMs, retailers and pay points from turning into a stampede.

And the dates themselves? They are set by rules, plain ones. A payment never falls on the 1st of the month. Never on a Monday. Never over a weekend, and never on the day straight after a public holiday. That is the whole reason the dates hop around inside the first week instead of just sitting on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th like you would expect.

Look at April 2026 if you want to see those rules working. Older persons got paid on Thursday 2 April. But disability? Tuesday 7 April, because the Easter weekend sat right in the middle. Children's grants followed on Wednesday 8 April. So if one month shows a longer gap between the columns, that is not your money being delayed. That is just the calendar doing its thing.

Expert Opinion

During our research we found that the worst payment weeks start the same way: a family expecting every grant on the same morning. Do not read this table by row. Read it by column. Your grant's day is the only one that applies to you, and your neighbour getting paid a day earlier tells you absolutely nothing about yours. Most of the panic we see at pay points? A date borrowed from the wrong column.

November 2026: The Election Change

November is the odd one out this year. It is the one month where the printed schedule and the real schedule went their separate ways. The original 2026/27 table had the disability grant down for Wednesday 4 November 2026. Then that day became local government election day. A public holiday. And a grant cannot pay on a public holiday.

So SASSA moved it. The fix was announced in a statement on 14 October 2026, approved by National Treasury, and the whole cycle shifted forward, which means the November money actually starts paying in October.

Disability GrantWednesday, 4 NovemberMonday, 2 November
Children's GrantsThursday, 5 NovemberTuesday, 3 November

Still seeing the old dates? You are not imagining it. Old screenshots and forwarded lists are still doing the rounds with the first printing's November dates on them. If a group chat message tells you disability grants pay on 4 November, it is working off the outdated table. Trust the revised row. Only the revised row.

Grants Under Review And The Fourth Payment Day

Here is a newer thing many beneficiaries have not clocked yet. Since the 2025/26 grant year, SASSA runs a fourth payment day in every cycle. That day belongs to people whose grants have been flagged for review, usually because SASSA's checks against banks, SARS and other data picked up income or work that was never declared.

What happens then? Your case gets pulled out of the normal three-day run and paid on that fourth day instead. The money still lands in the same month, do not worry about that. But treat the later date as a signal, because that is exactly what it is. If your grant suddenly starts paying on the fourth day, SASSA wants to see you, and a notification goes out by SMS or post asking you to come in and complete the review.

Two of those fourth days are already fixed in print. October 2026: grants under review were paid on Wednesday 7 October. And in the revised November cycle, they pay on Thursday 5 November 2026. The other months? The fourth day follows the same standard pattern, the first working day after the children's grants have been paid, and SASSA confirms it in that month's announcement.

Important Note: Do Not Ignore A Review Notice

A review is not a cancellation. Read that again. Your grant keeps paying while it runs. But the notice needs an answer, and there is a clock on it. In Parliament, the Minister of Social Development laid it out: roughly two months from notification to finish a review, then suspension can follow, and a grant that stays unanswered can be cancelled in the third month. Changed your number recently? Then SASSA might be writing to a phone you do not use anymore. Keep your contact details current.

Why SRD R370 Has No Fixed Pay Date

Every month, readers scan this table looking for an SRD date. It is not hiding from you. It was never there.

Why? Because the SRD grant does not work like the others. It is assessed person by person, month by month, so it cannot share one national payday with the main grants. Each approved month carries its own date, loaded the moment that month's checks clear, and it sits right next to your approved status on the official portal. Run your own SRD Status Check with your ID number and application phone number, and that date, that one, is the only SRD date that belongs to you.

Two situations trip people up here, and applicants tell us about both all the time. First: you are approved but there is no date beside it yet. That is a loading gap, not a problem, and our guide to a SASSA status approved result walks through the wait. Second: a month gets approved and then never pays, because SASSA holds no verified account for you. The bank details pending guide covers that one in full.

Questions Beneficiaries Ask About Pay Days

Why Is My Grant Never Paid On The 1st Of The Month?

Because it is built that way. SASSA's scheduling rules keep payments off the 1st, off Mondays and weekends, and away from the day after a public holiday. So the first grant in a cycle lands on the 2nd at the earliest, sometimes a few days later. January runs latest most years, because New Year pushes the whole cycle out, and in 2026 the older persons grant only paid on Tuesday 6 January.

My Neighbour Was Paid, But My Money Is Not In. Is It Lost?

Almost certainly not. Stop and think first. You might hold different grants, with different days. Your grant might be sitting in a review cycle, paying on the fourth day. And banks do not release money in one single moment either; they release it through the day, so a balance checked at 6 in the morning can look completely different by the afternoon. Check your balance again in the evening. Then read your row of the table one more time. Then worry, if you still need to.

What Does A Status That Stays On Pending Do To My Pay Date?

For the SRD grant, it means there is no pay date yet. Simple as that. A month that is still being checked only gets its date once it is approved. Our SASSA status pending guide explains what is being checked and how long the wait usually runs. For the main grants it works differently: a pending review moves your money to that fourth payment day covered above.

How To Confirm Your Date Before You Travel

The schedule is set a year ahead. Life does not care. In 2026 an election moved an entire month's payments, remember? So do the two-minute check before each cycle. It costs nothing, and it can save you a wasted trip to town.

  1. Find your month and your grant column in the calendar table on this page, and note the date. That is your starting point.
  2. A day or two before that date, check the official SASSA website or its verified announcements for any change notice for that month, because months do change, as November proved.
  3. Receive the SRD grant instead? Skip the table. Open the official SRD portal and read the date beside your approved month; that date overrides every general table, always.
  4. On the day itself, check your bank balance or card before you travel. If the money shows, there is no reason to queue anywhere.
  5. Still nothing after a few working days? Phone the SASSA toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11, or visit your nearest office with your ID document.

Important Note: Payday Is Not A Deadline

Here is the thing nobody tells you at the pay point. Money paid into your bank account stays in your bank account. It does not expire at midnight. It does not have to come out on day one. And that first-day rush? That is where people lose money: to crowds, to transport costs, to skimmers watching the queues. Collect on day two or three instead. You will usually find an empty queue. And the same money, waiting.

Questions People Ask About This Page

Why is my SASSA grant never paid on the 1st of the month?

Because SASSA sets its dates by fixed rules: nothing on the 1st, nothing on a Monday, nothing over a weekend, nothing on the day straight after a public holiday. So the first grant of a cycle lands on the 2nd at the earliest. January runs latest, and in January 2026 the older persons grant only paid on Tuesday 6 January.

What are the SASSA payment dates for November 2026?

The whole cycle moved, because Wednesday 4 November is the local government election public holiday. Older persons are paid on Friday 30 October 2026, disability grants on Monday 2 November, children's grants on Tuesday 3 November, and grants under review on Thursday 5 November.

When are grants under review paid?

On the fourth payment day of the cycle, after the three main grant days have run. Confirmed for 2026: Wednesday 7 October and Thursday 5 November. And if your grant moves to that fourth day, do not just note the date. Treat it as a signal to complete your review at a SASSA office.

Do I have to collect or withdraw my grant on payday?

No. Money paid into your bank account stays there until you use it, and collecting a day or two later is usually easier and safer. SASSA itself urges beneficiaries every cycle not to rush to payment points on the first day.

Why is there no SRD R370 date in the 2026 table?

Because it is assessed per person and per month, the SRD grant has no single national pay date to print. Your own date appears next to your approved month when you check your status on the official SRD portal, and that is the only date that applies to you.

My payment date has passed and the money is not in. What should I do?

Do not panic at 6am. Banks release money through the day, so check your balance again by the evening. Still nothing after a few working days? Phone the SASSA toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11 or visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID document.

Final Verdict

The 2026 calendar is settled, and you can plan your year around it. Older persons first, disability next, children's grants after, all inside the first week of every month. January to March closed out the 2025/26 year; April onwards runs on the Treasury-approved 2026/27 schedule. Burn one change into your memory, though: November. The election holiday pulled that whole cycle forward, so it starts on Friday 30 October 2026, with grants under review paid on Thursday 5 November. Everything else in the table stands exactly as published. And the SRD R370 grant? It is the exception, but an exception by design, not by error. It pays on your date, the one beside your approved month on the official portal. No general table will ever give you that date, so stop looking for it in one.
